If you’ve been a subscriber of mine for any length of time, you know that I speak about the Law of Attraction and its two partners the Law of Deliberate Creation and the Law of Allowing But what are these laws of the Universe?
You may know the law of gravity. Even before anyone put a name to it and figured out its workings, people knew at some level that if you dropped something that it fell and that if you jumped off a cliff there was only way to go - down!
Sir Isaac Newton finally put a name on and created a theory of why gravity worked, but the law of gravity was not created by him - it just existed.
‘The Big Three’ are Laws of the Universe. They have existed forever, and even before people put a name to it, they could sense their power and reality. Throughout the centuries, people referred to these Laws in a hushed tone.
More recently, these Laws have been rediscovered and names have been put on to them. (For more detailed information be sure to check out Abraham-Hicks.) They were not created - they always existed. So what are these three big laws that everyone has been talking about?
Law of Attraction
Think of a magnet and a piece of metal. You are the magnet and you are attracting things to you. How are you doing this? They are attracted through your thoughts and desires. The Universe does not judge you for what you desire; it just answers your call For instance, if you keep thinking “I have money problems” the Universe will answer by giving you money problems. If instead, you changed your thought to “I want $10,000” and focus on that, the Universe will open up an avenue for you to get that $10,000.
Law of Deliberate Creation
This law is the logical next step in the process. Once you realize that gravity is keeping you on the ground, then you have to figure out a way to fly that takes gravity into consideration. The Wright brothers figured this out when they created their first plane. The Law of Deliberate Creation means that you have the power to change your life. You only have to consciously decide to and the Universe will obey.
Law of Allowing
This law can be condensed to one word - Faith. Once you have put out into the Universe your desire, you must be ready to accept it when it arrives. This is not about guessing it will come. It is about knowing it will come. It is expecting it to come. It is having faith that what you have sent out into the Universe deliberately will come to you just as you asked it to.
As you read my blogs and materials, you will now have a better understanding of the Big Three. They have existed, and you have been living your life according to them and maybe did not even know it. Now that you have put a name to it, you can take control and create the life you really want rather than the life you thought you were stuck with.

How many times have you dreamed and worked and waited for a goal, desire, outcome… only to give in or give up on it right before the Universe aligned things perfectly for you to have and enjoy it? It happens sometimes, sadly, that the apparent hurdle that causes one to doubt is actually that last test of trust, of faith that the Universe may offer. The excerpt below sums it up better than I:
“…Often the goal is nearer thanIt seems to a faint and faltering man.Often the struggler has given up,When he might have captured the victor's cup.And he learned too late when the night came down,How close he was to the golden crown.Success is failure turned inside out,The silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are,It may be near when it seems afar.So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.”Author Unknown
Note that last line again: “… when things seem…” No matter what one’s current reality may look like on the face of it, stick to your goals and keep your eye on the prize. Do not take ‘no’ for an answer. Do not be dissuaded by something that may appear to be a setback. When we change the way we look at our current reality, our current reality changes. Adapting our thoughts and our actions helps speed our desires to us. As Winston Churchill once said, “Never give up.” After all, you can not fail unless you quit. Simply reprogram your thoughts in a view that supports your vision, the outcome, the desired end goal – and know that the Universe wants you to have it… and now.
Intention, a call to action, dedication, persistence…
In 1975, two Seattle-area teenagers, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, had a vision, what I’d call an extreme vision: to put a computer on every desktop and in every home. Back in the ‘70s, when personal computers were a rarity and mainframes the norm, Gates took his first steps towards this vision. At 17, he co-founded Microsoft. To pursue his goal, Gates dropped out of Harvard. His persistence paid off: Today, approximately 90% of the world's computers run on Microsoft's Windows software.
Imagine, for a moment, how Bill’s peers and family may have felt when he informed them he’d be dropping out of Harvard. Maybe he took some flack; maybe his parents said, “No!” Maybe others jeered or thought him a bit nutty, right? He was undeterred; he persevered.
It is important to note that, on your quest for your dreams, “no” never means “no.” Again, it is a matter of reprogramming our thoughts and actions. Me? If I hear a “no,” I assume it is a “maybe” and that I must try again. Perhaps I just asked at the wrong time, in the wrong way, or even the wrong individual.
When Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen began the process of selling their Chicken Soup for the Soul book back in 1991, they flew to New York with their agent and met with every major publisher that would grant them an appointment. Every single publisher said, “Not interested.” Why? Because they felt that “…collections of these sorts of stories don't sell” or that “the title will never work.” After Canfield and Hansen had been rejected by more than 30 publishers, their agent handed their book back to them saying, “I can’t sell this for you.”
So, what did Canfield and Hansen do? Instead of giving up, they brainstormed on the next step of action and came up with the idea to print up a form that was a promise to buy their book when it was published. A completed form would list the name, address, and number of books each individual promised to buy. For several months, they asked everyone who attended their talks and seminars to complete the form if they planned to buy a copy of their book when it was published. They eventually got 20,000 promises.
The next spring Jack and Mark attended the American Booksellers Association convention in Anaheim CA and went from booth to booth speaking with every publisher they could. Alas, even with the signed pledge forms, they were turned down by all.
Still not willing to take "no" for an answer, at the end of the second day of the convention, they gave Gary Seidler, the president of Health Communications Inc., a copy of the first 30 stories of their book. Gary promised that he’d take them home and read them. Later that week, he did just that. Gary loved the stories and decided to give Jack and Mark a chance.
After over 130 rejections, that first Chicken Soup for the Soul book went on the market - to sell eight million copies. Its debut launched a series of over 80 best-selling books, books which have been translated into 39 languages! Annually, several new Chicken Soup books are being published.
Oh, and those pledge forms? After the book was published, almost every person who'd promised to buy a book did so - and one of them bought 1,700 copies.
As Dr. Wayne Dyer says, “Think from the end. Highly realized people learn to think from the end—that is, they experience what they wish to intend before it shows up in material form. You can do the same by synchronizing with the power of intention.” Remember to be grateful for the synchronicities along the way and the ‘coincidences’ (there really are no such things!) that ease your path. Rejoice at even the tiniest progress. Raising those vibrations allows more of what you want to reach you – and reach you more easily. Persist: show the Universe that you mean business!
Usually, when it comes to attaining our goals and seeing our dreams come true, we have set a timeline or, at least, have one in mind. That is a good thing. It keeps us focused, motivated. It is tangible; it is binary, measurable: have I been, done, reached such-and-such? Yes or no…
Meanwhile, there is a fine balance between setting measurable goals and feeling that “Have or Have Not” feeling. The Law of Attraction promotes feelings of flow and abundance. Let if flow… and you will get more and faster… and often times, even better than that for which we had hoped and asked.
When I got into coaching, I was like a kid in a candy store. I wanted to coach clients and be active in the coaching associations; I was president of the International Coach Federation East Bay Chapter. I was progressing through my coaching certification while simultaneously completing a one-year leadership program, creating classes, writing articles, networking… you name it. Meanwhile, I was, basically, saying 'yes' to every offer that came my way to coach and speak… until, eventually, I was left with my tongue hanging out still wanting to say yes to even more juicy opportunities that were flowing my way. After all I'm a huge believer that there is nothing you cannot be or do or have.. until my own coach reminded me, “Eva, yes, you can have it all. Just not all at once!"
Sometimes when the Universe is fulfilling your wishes, it gives your everything – and then some – that you have requested. When this happens, it is important to remember to feel gratitude, feel joy in the abundance of it all. If you sidetrack into the “Okay, I received this and that and hurry to add more to the want list, what are you saying? Not ‘thank you,’ but rather, “Hey. You have given me all of this – and I am feeling a lack of something.” When I thought about my coach’s words, I could almost hear the Universe giving me that sound from the old game show “Price is Right” when I fall prey to that feeling of scarcity: “bah, bah, bah, waaaaaah.” Time to do a self-check.
When I relaxed into the abundance of that feeling of “I can have it all,” instead of the scarcity mentality, my life became balanced again. I realized that, just because I didn't say yes to everything that came my way right now, it did not mean that I would miss out. I remembered to count my blessings, too. I was able to find that time to play and to be active in my business and have things flow to me and through me "…in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way" as Catherine Ponder likes to say.
So, for those who are afraid they might miss out on something or they are being told this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and if you don't take it you'll miss your boat, this is a reminder you never miss your boat. Law of Attraction will always send you another boat and another boat and another boat... Sometimes, it even gives you a better boat than the one for which you dreamed. As Bono sings, “… what you don’t have, you don’t need it now… it’s a beautiful day… don’t let it slip away…” Count your blessings. Have faith that the universe will give you “all that” … and more – in it’s own way, at just the right time.

If you were like me growing up, when it came to accepting presents or gifts from others, your parents may have told you, “No, you can not accept that.” They told you this for a variety of reasons, but the message was clear. You should not accept gifts. To further complicate things you may have grown up hearing the old adage “It is better to give than to receive.”
Of course, there is great value in giving to others. This is especially true when gifts in whatever form are given from the heart. But let us flip things around a bit.
Let’s say that you’ve spent a lot of time and effort trying to find that perfect gift for someone, or you went the extra mile to make someone happy. Now, what if they turned to you as you were handing them this gift and said to you, “I can not accept this. Sorry.”
You’d feel deflated, maybe even hurt. Has this ever happened to you? It has to me, and I can not fully describe the enormous feeling of disappointment that accompanied this.
The power of gratitude and appreciation is a great power indeed. It opens doors and new possibilities in your life. The Law of Attraction states that “like attracts like”. If you are gracious and appreciative and let others know it, the positive energy you create will attract more positive things to you.
Close your eyes and imagine having that gift that you know a loved one wants in your hands. It is beautifully wrapped and your loved one can tell the care and thought that went into it. As she opens it, a large smile crosses her face. She hugs you and thanks you profusely. You well up with pride and appreciation. Something else happens…a desire to want to do it again.
We are creatures of habit. If a person remembers a positive experience in association with you and attaches it to a particular act, they are more apt to repeat that act. Appreciation and gratitude are so important.
These acts don’t have to be big. They can be a short note saying thank you, a handshake and a smile, a small gift or token of your appreciation. Remember that like attracts like. Appreciation begets appreciation.
A friend was telling me he was eating in a restaurant the other day and the waitress provided adequate service. Yet he gave her a generous tip. Her reaction was a frown as she stuffed it in her pocket and walked away. His initial reaction was to never go back to that restaurant, and if he did, he probably would not tip as well the next time, should he get that particular waitress. If she had simply smiled or had said thank you, my friend’s initial attitude and memory of the interaction would have been different.
Being gracious and appreciative when you interact with others can bring great things back to you in your life. In fact, the simple act of saying thank you to someone is, in essence, giving them a gift back.
It is sometimes hard to figure out your place in life. What is your purpose? What are you meant to do in life? I like to think of life as a large symphony. Each player in the symphony plays a certain part. There are different instruments in each section –piano, violins, cellos, flutes, trumpets, percussion. Each section seeks to play in harmony with the other. Each person has a special skill and talent that they have worked and practiced for many years. They have honed their particular musical skill so that when it comes time to perform that orchestral piece, they are ready.
It is sometimes difficult to figure out what our talents are. What I can guarantee is that every person has a talent or skill that they are good at. It can be an unusual skill such as making folded paper origami, or it might be an athletic skill.
Once you figure out what that skill is, the next step is to figure out how you can utilize that skill. Sometimes you have to be creative and think outside the box. Suppose you are good at making paper cranes. What kind of career can that lead to? Well maybe, you are creative at other artistic creations. Maybe you are good with math and spatial skills that make you invaluable in a field like architecture or design.
When you are sure you have identified your talent, begin to hone and improve it. This can mean going to school or a technical college. It can mean training under other professionals in the field. Whatever the case maybe, strive to be the best at what you are good at. Practice and refine your talent.
I have a client who worked at a department store. He has a great eye for design and was given the chance to decorate a clothing display for the holidays. They liked it so much they asked him to more projects. He’s always loved visual arts but lacked the confidence to do anything with it as a career. Eventually, he became the head of the display department in the clothing store he was working in. It was a promotion and an increase in pay. That was the feedback he needed to really see he could trust his desires to be, do or have whatever he wanted. He went back to school and eventually got his BA in Art. He continued to be promoted within the company he was working in and eventually moved to Washington DC. Today, he is the art director for a major clothing chain He recognized a talent he had, honed his talent, and is now the happiest he has ever been in his life.
What about you? Are you ready to blend your instrument with the rest of the symphony and play your music in harmony with others around you? You can, you know. Whenever you’re ready. You will be a star!
When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, they were thankful. They had a vision of coming to a new land and starting a new life. They were dissatisfied with their lives in England and hoped that the harrowing journey across a relatively uncharted ocean would bring them to the life they had been dreaming of.
They landed at Plymouth Rock where the real work began. They had to build homes, defend themselves and forage for food, all of which had to be done before the oncoming winter. Without food, they would die. Thankfully, the Native Americans taught them how to grow plants such as corn. They harvested the food and had plenty to share. Being grateful for their bounty, they sat down with family and friends in thanksgiving for what they had received. Their dreams were being realized.
Every year we give thanks, as our forefathers did those many years ago. We spend time with friends and family. We eat until we just can’t eat one more bite of turkey. It is certainly a time to be thankful for everything we have as we look forward to another year of abundance.
So why do it just one day a year? Are we only thankful for our abundance in November? What about the other 364 days of the year?
The act of being thankful is an extremely powerful force. The pilgrims remembered this and immortalized it with their historical meal. There may be historical disparities of exactly what they ate and who attended, but one message is clear and that is of being thankful.
We can bring the abundance of being thankful into our lives everyday by simply remembering to thank the Universe for delivering what we ask for. This has the power to bring even more abundance into our lives.
When we affirm to the Universe that we are grateful for receiving what we want, the Universe responds by sending even more abundance to us. This is the Law of Attraction at its best. When you hold positive thoughts and feelings, positive experiences are attracted to you.
An acquaintance, Lesley, is struggling with this concept. She feels that her life has been predetermined and that she cannot do anything to change it. She is unhappy in most all aspects of her life. I asked her the other day, “Are you happy?” At first, she tried to say she was, but quickly she was in tears. I explained to her that she had many positive aspects of her life. I reminded her that she is at choice, and everything in life is a choice. I explained that if she feels she is not worthy of abundance, then that is what she can expect to receive in her life. If she can begin to affirm that she is worth being successful, happy, and healthy, she can reap abundance. It is her choice. I just know she will make the right choice and I can’t wait to celebrate with her when she can truly thank the Universe for her success.
So while you eat your turkey, remember that on Friday, you have the opportunity to continue being thankful every other day of the year as well.
